Soap Saver Jar uses soap slivers to make a new bar

When a bar of soap gets down to one of those little slivers, it can seem like money is being thrown in the trash when it gets pitched.

In an effort to save the environment and even throw in extra motivation by offering the opportunity to save a bit of cash, the Soap Saver Jar was invented. Nothing complicated here in that the user just continues to put soap slivers in the jar and the compression from the screw-on top makes them all into a brand new bar. No electricity or special tools needed, just a desire to pinch those pennies until they scream and a distain for landfills.

It’s not clear how many slivers are actually required to make a new bar. Backers wondering how they can slow down the melting of their newly compounded soap slivers might want to check out the Soapseat campaign. This campaign seeks to raise $13,800 by mid January. For $7, backers get one Soap Saver Jar with an expected delivery of April 2015.

Solo helps toothbrushes and razors stand up to germs

A cluttered bathroom sink is one of the realities of home life. But the creator of Solo seems to think that a minimalist design is the solution. The razor and toothbrush holder is made of aerospace grade aluminum, making it more durable than the average holder. Because the razor and toothbrush are elevated to upright positions, the product offers a more germ-free solution than what is presently on the market – even though there are plenty of products out there doing that.  Solo is compatible with nearly any razor or toothbrush, and makes the claim that it reduces bathroom clutter because the average toothbrush holder is too bulky.

Perhaps this would hold some water if Solo could hold more than one toothbrush at a time. As for razors, they tend to become rusty no matter where they happen to be, even when sitting upright. This campaign seeks to raise $7,500. Early bird backers get one product for $20, with an expected delivery of April 2015.

Shower Rock steadies feet for silky smooth shaved legs

When shaving one’s legs, doing so in a shower (as opposed to a bath) can mean leaning over into some awkward and uncomfortable positions in many shower stalls – if there is any place at all to hoist one’s foot. So Shower Rock offers a place to rest that foot in order to make it easier to get that silky smooth result. The product sticks to almost any shower and the suction base twists into place to prevent the product from falling off the wall.

These simple, but effective tools can make such a difference. The rock’s textured surface helps the user’s foot stay secure during use, and the product can double as an aid for getting in or out of the shower, useful for any older or disabled backers. Shower Rock also travels well. Backers interested in a mini-spa shower experience might like to check out Octaloofah. This campaign seeks to raise $5,000. Backers may choose from four colors and get one Shower Rock for $25 with an expected delivery of May 2015.

Toilet strainer prevents kids from flushing jewelry

Kids have a tendency to destroy things like valuables and happiness. Okay, maybe not happiness, but certainly priceless family heirlooms.

iGuard is a solution to this problem, straining out items from the toilet. Ew. Okay, yes it sounds disgusting, but the creators claim it’s the only way to prevent clogged toilets. The small plastic mechanism hooks onto the side of the toilet bowl. There’s a round piece that goes into the toilet with holes in it to strain. This way, it’ll catch unwanted items from going down the pipes. The only question that remains is, what about those things that you want to go down? iGuard comes in a case that opens with tap of the foot so touch is unnecessary. One is going for $50 on Kickstarter with an estimated delivery of April 2015. iGuard is looking to raise $20,000.

Toilit lights up the tank for less dripping in the dark

There is a fine line between information and what one could say is TMI. Nevertheless, those who find toilet humor and really bad puns to be funny, especially when blended, should probably avoid the video associated with this campaign and go get a life. As for everyone else who just wants to know how to make it to the bathroom at night without getting injured or waking everyone up, Toilit is a motion-sensing light specifically designed for those night trips to the bathroom. It hangs on the tank of the toilet and lights the way with soft light (as opposed to an overbearing overhead light) as the bathroom is entered.

For those who are too incapacitated to get everything into the toilet, this light may not be solution. Other nightlight type campaigns that backers might want to check out include Illumibowl and LureViewer. This product seeks to raise $35,000 by December 12, 2014. Early bird backers can get one product for $15, with an expected delivery of May 2015.

Octaloofah turns home showers into spa time with massage and music

If he thinks she spends too much time soaking in the tub already, wait until she gets her hands on this emerging gadget. Octaloofah has the potential to take a simple shower and turn it into a spa –sort of. The octagon-shaped device is a hands-free, multifunctional unit that not only uses exfoliation to help promote healthier skin, but can also provide a pseudo back massage while playing one’s favorite tunes. Octaloofah has a wireless sound system that connects to any Bluetooth device. Talk about added ambiance! The product attaches to the shower wall via suction cups, and the exfoliating half-spheres are easily replaceable when necessary.

There isn’t presently any clear indication of how much these will cost to replace, which may affect backers’ opinion of this product. For the perfect item to round out this home spa mindset, backers might want to check out the Wave Hooks wine and cheese holder for bath-time enthusiasts. This campaign seeks to raise $65,000 by January 31, 2014. Early bird backers get one product for $39 with an expected delivery of August 15.

Ever shudder to imagine what germs lurk around public bathroom faucets, stalls and doors? The folks at Loodini certainly have. It covers your hand and does all the contact stuff for you so you don’t have to touch anything in that bathroom. Loodini comes in five different colors, is made out of plastic and uses an antibacterial agent to maximum cleanliness. To clean, use warm soapy water to rid this product of all it has picked up. For £9 (~$14), backers will receive a set of three for delivery in December 2014. Loodini hopes to raise £3,000 (~$4,800) on Kickstarter.

There are lots of germaphobes out there who can’t stand public restrooms until it becomes an emergency. It’s versatile, easy to clean and even works to kill bacteria making it more effective than tissues.

QuickRinse gives showers the power wash they crave

Cleaning the shower is one of the more dreaded household chores. But what if one had a cleaning business? That was the very thing that inspired two savvy business women to create QuickRinse. Cleaning a dirty shower looks like a whole lot less hassle because of QuickRinse’s funnel-shaped bag that is designed to fit over most shower heads. It’s made of a durable 10 ounce vinyl material and is ultrasonically welded around the seams and hose adapter. It also has an extra long, double-sided Velcro strap and rubber hose to prevent kinking and bend memory. While it may still be necessary to do some scrubbing, rinsing does appear to make the job easier. Backers may also be interested to know that this particular campaign helps women trapped in a domestic violence situation to gain their freedom because part of the proceeds will go toward The Boise Women’s and Children’s Alliance (WCA). This campaign seeks to raise $25,000 by November 1. For $50, backers get one product with an expected delivery of December 2014.

Level Minder alerts if your bath water becomes a rising tide

An overflowing bathtub or sink can be disastrous, requiring costly repairs by the time you realize what’s happening. Many have experienced it, from the elderly to the physically impaired to those who are just plain forgetful or distracted, making a solution to the issue an important one.

Level Minder is a small, compact sensor that attaches to the edge of a bathtub or sink with a suction cup. Once there, sensors at the bottom of the unit alert you with a loud alarm once water reaches them, with planned Wi-Fi capability to send a text message or even wirelessly turn off the water supply when you’re not in. The unit comes in three colors to match a wide variety of bathroom layouts and currently goes for $100, with an estimated delivery date of March 2015. The campaign needs a staggering $500,000 to make it all happen.

The Level Minder is a fine solution to a real issue, but the product is way too narrow in what it does. The inventor talks about how big the issue of water damage is, but ultimately doesn’t convince. Add its bloated cost and the Level Minder ends up being a lot less sensible than it initially seems.

Go2Pon tampon dispenser promises tampon nirvana, a place nobody wants to go

When it comes to the more delicate side of being a female, there are certain items designed with the intent of making life easier. This applies to Go2Pon.  Go2Pon is presented as a product of convenience because of its cylindrical shape. It features a suction cup on the bottom that will allow it to be securely fastened to a convenient spot in the shower or on the counter, so the tampon will always be close at hand, at least at home. It aims to make that time of the month, Aunt Flo’s visit, shark week, or whatever else you want to call it a little less awkward. Potential marriage annoyance alert: if the intent is for a permanent location for the Go2Pon, hubby may see it as ranking right up there with looking at her hand-washed bras hanging over the shower rod. Just a thought. This campaign seeks to raise $20,000 by November 14, 2014. Backers can get one product for $30, with an expected delivery of May 2015.
