For some reason, staying on top of medication is so much harder than anyone gives it credit for. Pill boxes
and smartphone reminders may help but at the end of the day, they’re still not good enough. When the medicine in question is essential to one’s health, it’s important to go the extra mile to ensure adherence.
The iKeyp is a lightweight, portable smart safe that includes a wide range of features that makes it more versatile than it seems at first blush. It works together with a companion smartphone app to make sure authorized users are reminded when its moisture-sealed compartment isn’t opened at the scheduled time for medication. In addition, a motion detector, three-axis gyroscope, and shock detector to determine when the iKeyp is being tampered with, sending alerts directly to authorized users while also letting loose a siren to deter would-be thieves.
Of course, remote access to the safe is also a possibility in case someone else needs in and doesn’t have the iKeyp’s physical master key handy. An iKeyp safe is going for $99 ($51 off its $150 retail price) and is expected to ship in March 2017. Its Indiegogo campaign is looking for $50,000 by November 2016 to see success.
The white, plastic-like look of the iKeyp looks more at home in a medicine cabinet than anywhere else in the home. When compared to something like the Vaultek connected safe, with its carbon-steel construction and heavy-duty feature set, the iKeyp fails to inspire much confidence in truly protecting truly valuable goods. Grab it if you’re worried about drug abuse in the home. For a true safe experience, the Vaultek is the call.
