DoodleVU connected mirror starts the day off with widgets

The biggest “screen” in most people’s lives isn’t a screen at all, but rather the mirror every morning is spent in front of to make sure a suit and tie combo is just right, or makeup is applied evenly. Nothing more is asked of a mirror because it does what it does simply, and well. AppSmith Studios is pushing the complacent home object further with its DoodleVU connected mirror.

DoodleVU is a Raspberyy Pi-based Wi-Fi mirror that displays widgets from its companion mobile or web app. For now, there is a small range of apps available, but the company claims that list will grow. Out of teh box, users can do things like display a Twitter feed, leave notes on the mirror for others, stay up to date on sports scores, and a few others.

Gravity (and dignity) mean nothing with MoonWalker boots

For corporation-owning billionaires, the limits of space are slowly being proving to be anything but. For everyone else, though, the idea of experiencing outer space rests on whichever billionaire decides it’ll make enough money for them.

The team at Moonshine Crea wants to people in an astronaut’s shoes — literally. The company claims its 20:17 MoonWalker boots are able to replicate the feeling of zero gravity using a set of N45 magnets in the soles. Apparently, they generate a substantial enough repellant force to make people feel like they’re floating on the surface of the moon.

Ask any dog owner: Having to leave their pooch behind to go to work every morning is a heartbreaking moment. Making it worse is knowing their furry friend have to endure being alone for hours at a time, forcing them to entertain themselves. What if there was a way to alleviate that guilt while giving dogs the stimulation they require?

This prompts it to autonomously play with their dogs for up to eight hours at a time, going to sleep when it detects it being played with and re-engaging when it’s not. The patent-pending software within adapts the GoBone’s play based on breed, weight, age, and other variables to ensure constant variety.

IScout lets drivers scout out the road ahead safely

Heads-up displays (HUDs) are becoming increasingly popular devices because they allow drivers to keep their eyes on the road while getting navigation and other useful information about their cars and the road ahead.

patent-claimedIScout is a standalone, patent-pending HUD that provides information including car speed, fuel level and GPS navigation as a floating virtual image in front of the vehicle. It works in conjunction with an Android and iOS mobile device app, enabling iScout to also display incoming calls, messages, reminders and social media content.

Remo lets you connects your air conditioner to the internet no sweat

Anybody who owns a home knows that one of the costliest expenses is running an air conditioner, especially during the hottest months of the year.

Remo is a universal smart controller that transforms any window-mounted or through-the-wall air conditioner into a smart AC. Users can remotely turn it on via a smartphone, pre-set different temperatures for different times of the day, or set the unit to automatically turn off based on the motion sensor. Remo ships in August at future pricing of $119. But Kickstarter backers can get one with a pledge as low as $49 for super early birds. Its makers are out to raise $50,000 by June 22.

Remo joins several similar products have already done much the same thing, including tado. For now, Remo supports any AC with a remote control, its makers say. But support for ACs without remotes is planned for Remo units that ship after December.

Smart Scribe smart pen is smart enough to write on a whiteboard

The ability of smart pens to automatically sync everything written with one to a mobile device or computer in easy-to-read text can be very handy –- especially if the paper something is written on becomes lost.

Smart Scribe is another entry in the growing product category: an e-pen that can record handwriting and drawings. One thing that separates it from some rival products is that it can work on a whiteboard. Smart Scribe recognizes what users write by their handwriting and automatically converts it into digital information, sending what’s written to a computer or mobile device via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

Spendwallet wants to be all your credit cards

Electronic payment has become a popular way for consumers to shop without having to schlep around a wallet full of credit cards to be used in multiple stores. But mobile payment via a smartphone doesn’t quite solve the problem because Apple Pay and Android Pay require NFC technology that can only be used in a relatively small number of U.S. retail stores. Phones can also ring while trying to pay for something with it or be damaged if the cashier drops it.

Spendwallet is a new alternative -– a slim, pocket-sized electronic payment device that consolidates up to 20 credit, debit and gift cards. It uses magnetic vibration technology like Samsung Pay. Spendwallet’s version of that tech is its self-developed Magnetic Flux Emulation (MFE). The device generates a magnetic field that makes a card reader respond as if a physical credit card is actually being swiped.

The FeelSpace belt pokes and prods you back home

Getting to a destination has never been easier with smart devices and their large, colorful screens capable of showing the exact way to a destination. While that’s a perfect solution when simply walking around, that’s not quite the case when it’s particularly sunny, there’s a lack of connectivity, or when riding a bike, easily becoming obtrusive to the activity at hand.

To address these navigational challenges, the team behind the FeelSpace belt took the information on the screen and found another way to communicate it: through directional vibrations on the belt itself. This means that vibrations on the belt go off whenever the wearer needs to change direction, making navigation effortless.
