iCup and iPlate offers a one-hand solution for juggling plates and cups

Barbecue and beer go together like summer and sunburn. But it’s sometimes tough to juggle both food and beverage while mingling .  A plate in one hand and a drink in the other doesn’t leave much for greeting guests at social gatherings and trying to balance the cup on top of the plate risks spillage.

The iCup and iPlate hope to slide in a solution to the issue of one-handed consumption  The cup attaches into grooves on the bottom of the plate so that it doubles as a handle. The plate also acts as a lid to keep the bugs out of the drink and the cup acts to stabilize the plate. If the food needs utensils, the iFork and iKnife snap into the sides of the plate for easy access. Finally, by helping guests keep their cup close at hand, the system helps address the issue of identifying whose cup belongs to whom. A starter set of four (dispsoable) cups, four plates, and four sets of utensils is only $15, with expected delivery of November 2015. The campaign hopes to raise $10,000 by August 13, 2015,

It would be nice to have a non-disposable option. And, of course, taking full advantage of the plasticware requires getting all the products from one source. Still, the plate and cup combo is an ingenious solution to an age-old problem that looks at the drink-balancing issue from the reverse perspective. It doesn’t make guests look silly even though they’ll probably have to be shown the sliding trick.

Tornado Blade disposable protein shaker gets used once, then thrown away for those who hate doing dishes

Protein shakes are an important part of any fitness and health regimen. Those who partake usually carry theirs around with them all day, making the clean up a bit gross.

Tornado Blade is a disposable protein shaker kit. This product consists of a small piece of plastic that is curved with holes in it along with cups and lids. The idea is to insert the curved piece into the cup, add the lid, and shake the liquid. Once finished, just recycle all of the products.

The whole premise behind Tornado Blade is that doing dishes sucks. Well, yeah, but that’s not really a reason to make all dishes recyclable. Most adults have gotten over complaining about dishes and would rather do that than spend money on disposable products. Even so, those who want a Tornado Blade kit will have to donate $10 for seven of the blades, cups, and lids for estimated delivery in May 2015. This disposable protein shaker is looking for $60,000 in funding.

Tailmo keeps party cups in place even as the world starts to spin

Whether it’s coffee, soda or otherwise, being able to take one’s choice of beverage on the road is comforting for any long trip.  While there are multiple cup holders out there, Tailmo was created with party-goers in. The special feature here is that everyone’s favorite little red cup fits nicely in something that’s magnetized. So whether it’s a tailgate party or outdoor sporting event on those really uncomfortable metal bleachers, the beer has a better chance of staying put until drinking it commences. And oh yeah, it’s insulated so that it stays cold, too – or the coffee stays hot when it’s time to sober up.

While this is a nice idea, perhaps some sort of lid reminiscent of a travel mug’s should also have been included so as to further minimize spills when walking or staggering from place to place. This campaign seeks to raise $75,000 by December 24, 2014. Early bird backers get one product for $8, with an expected delivery of February 2015.

Puffer Lite expands your car’s cupholder to fit Nalgene bottles

Perhaps it is every company’s dream to have a customer base so loyal that they would change their lifestyle rather than change products. That being said, those who love their Nalgene water bottle can now use it in the car and enjoy having it along when they are on the road. Puffer Lite is basically an adapter for a car cup holder that only holds a standard sized drink. It’s not entirely clear what the product is made of or what the circumference of the main piece is, but it does appear that an effort is being made to make certain that the cup holder fits all typical commercial cars, and a free 2.75″ and 3″ diameter sleeve will be available with the main piece just in case some backers have a more unusual make or model. This campaign seeks to raise $15,000 by December 3, 2014. Early bird backers get one product for $12, with an expected delivery of April 2015.

The Smart Lid gives you a red alert for your hot date with drinks

HeatSensitiveLidYou may think you’re hot stuff, but you’re nothing compared to your morning coffee. The Smart Lid turn bright red when the liquid inside the cup is over 118 degrees, and gradually fade as the temperature cools down. This ingenious, simple idea will save many people from the horrible experience of having a burnt tongue. A simple but clever idea imported from Australis, the lids would be most useful for the likes of coffee shops and restaurants, but could see far greater distribution. After reaching some portion of the $8,000 flexible funding campaign, they’ll be available to backers in March 2014
