GearEye helps you keep an eye on your gear

Many people have become increasingly reliant on their smartphones, cameras and other electronic devices. One resulting problem is the difficulty in keeping track of all the various lenses, chargers and other accessories that are used in conjunction with devices.

GearEye is an RFID-based tagging and gear management system for ensuring that all gear is in one’s bag or close at hand and, if it’s not, that it can be easily found. It works in conjunction with an Android and iOS app, and uses a smartphone’s smart sensors and RFID GearTag labels to keep track of the user’s gear.

GearEye ships in July at $199 for a SKU that includes a choice of a case or dongle, along with five GearTags for metal items and 15 regular GearTags in a mixture of sizes, and $219 for a SKU that includes 10 GearTags for metal items and 30 regular GearTags in mixed sizes. But Kickstarter backers can order them now for pledges of $129 and $139, respectively. Its makers are out to raise $60,000 by Dec. 30.

QUICKCUBE combines smart design and touch of tech for more orderly stuff

Fully functional yet aesthetically beautiful storage solutions are few and far between. Usually, those horrid looking blue tubs or even spare cardboard boxes are used to put away extra things in the home. For the Boland family, these weren’t good enough. Thus, the QUICKCUBE was born.

The QUICKCUBE’s design is based solely on physics. While its nigh-transparent plastic walls may look weak, they’re made from a plastic that is three times stronger than the standard, supporting 450lbs in weight. This, along with its honeycombed lids for even more strength, all comes together to form an incredibly strong and perfectly stackable set of storage solutions for anywhere in the home.

TrackR atlas pinpoints your last items in any room of the house

The bedrock of crowdfunding platforms, tracking devices, continues to be peddled on each of them, wth newer versions on the same idea every year. Campaign creators have stuck Bluetooth antennas into small plastic shells and created connected devices solely for the purpose of finding objects since day, and there’s no end. Apparently, everyone is pretty terrible about keeping an eye on their things.

The TrackR atlas‘ forte is in the home, using a network of Bluetooth connected, plug-in devices called atlas’ together to map every room. By attaching slim, metallic tags called TrackR Bravos embedded with Bluetooth technology to important objects, the TrackR atlas system unifies other, more simplistic tracking solutions—partly because it also works with those other third-party solutions, too. With the companion or iOS app, users can simply ask where something is and receive a room-specific answer, ring lost items remotely, and receive push notifications when objects enter or leave the room to always stay on top of things.

Go with the FLO using the NOM.AD Mobility Ecosystem carry solution

Note: The following is a sponsored post and does not necessarily reflect the editorial opinion of Backerajck. Backerjack contributor Nick Echevarria is part of the NOM.AD team.

Modern life is lived on the go, comprised of a broad range of daily experiences. For every changing moment, the urban nomad needs a carrying solution that keeps everything needed for the day comfortably in reach; rather than one that introduces more difficulties throughout the day. Founder Ryan Clott created NOM.AD because he saw a need for a solution versatile enough to keep up with a dynamic urban lifestyle.

The answer? The Mobility Ecosystem, a line of weatherproof luxury bags and cases that seamlessly work together to create a better, more personal carrying experience. To achieve this, they are connected by the FLO System, the defining feature of all NOM.AD products. Comprised of a precisely designed network of patented Swiss snaps, users can select five differently sized FLO Pouches and quickly attach or detach them to either NOM.AD bag for better, faster organization — all depending on the carrying needs of the moment. It’s a snap-and-go kind of experience.

Recoil Power Maze cuts the cord clutter

Life today comes with strings attached. And those strings are cords that plug into the wall. While some devices are going cordless, laptops, monitors, modems, and phones all need to be plugged into the wall. This leads to an unpleasant tangle of cords below the desk that no one wants to see or deal with.

The Power Maze gets the cords off the floor and organizes them on the top of a desk or table. It’s designed to fit a full-sized power strip and up to fifty feet of cords. Plug into the power strip as normal, then wrap the cords around the “Cord Lock Patches”. These spaces have alternating polyethylene protrusions that hold the cords in place. The Power Maze also has space in the sleek design to house the large blocks that come on many laptop chargers to protect from power surge. The campaign hopes to raise $40,000 by August 17, 2015, and is selling the Power Maze for $40, with expected delivery in October 2015.

The Power Maze is great for fixed objects like desktop PCs, but might not be very practical for anything you might need to charge on the go like a laptop given the amount of wrapping around that has to happen to fit the cords inside the small box.

Bungee Bath lets your shower items bounce around without falling down

Finding places to store items in the shower, like shampoo, conditioner and body wash can often leave shower-goers frustrated. After all shower caddies can get old and gross after a while of use. That being the case,  ideas that can keep things clean, tidy and organized are certainly refreshing.

With a suction cup on one end and the bath product holder on the other,

Bungee Bath aims to do just that. Equipped with a suction cup on one end and product holders on the other, this product is extremely useful. Not only does it make bath items more accessible, it also promises keep things cleaner. The product seems to attach to most surfaces and should be able to fit most standard shampoo and conditioner bottles out on the market.

It’s unclear if the Bungee Bath truly reduces shower clutter. Further, the product can only hold up to 3.3 pounds of weight. Nonetheless, with color options available in blue, black and green, the product is certain to match most bathroom color schemes. Backers interested in bath items may also have an interest in Octaloofah, Reach for Me, and Wave Hooks, This campaign seeks to raise kr20,000 (~$2400 USD). Early bird backers get one product for kr45 (~$7 USD) with an expected delivery of June 2015.

Zeepers helps create storage solutions for the stuff you use most

Finding a quick, convenient place to store things like pot holders, keys, and small tools can often be challenging. This problem is made all the more frustrating when kids rooms are involved. While messy floors in kids rooms might sometimes be the result of laziness, it can also be caused by a lack of viable and convenient storage options.

Zeepers are multi-functional organizational tools that help kids easily get things off the floor while also offering adults a convenient place to hang the little things in life that are used too frequently for drawer storage. The magnetic mounting device on Zeepers sticks to a wall via a specially designed sticky gel that won’t cause any damage. Zeepers lay flat, and also come with a hinge so that they can be used along a wall corner.

The product certainly seems like an interesting idea, but there aren’t enough details about its true utility or even how it actually attaches to walls. Disorganized backers looking for organizational motivation might want to check out Kubonets, PowerTower, and Elevation Rack. This campaign seeks to raise $65,000 by April 1, 2015. For $20, backers get one kit with an expected delivery date in August 2015.

Cable Cube transforms spaghetti-like piles of cords into sweet rolls

No matter how much of a neat freak a person might be, keeping gadget cords from turning into a spaghetti-like pile under desks or behind the entertainment center is a near impossibility.

Then when something needs troubleshooting, trying to figure out which cord goes with what becomes something of a guess-your-best type of game. Cable Cube aims to transform the frustration of the spaghetti and organize it into something more manageable. The colorful, plastic box allows just enough cord on the outside to connect to electronic gadgets, while keeping the excess rolled and organized on the inside. The numbers help the user to keep track of which cord goes with what device. Two sizes are offered: large (200 mm cubed) and small (100 mm cubed).

The use of numbers to keep track of which cables go where may help with keeping track of gadget wiring organization, but the fanciful style won’t be a great match for every decor. Interested backers might also like to check out Power Tower and WrapAround. This campaign seeks to raise £5,000 (~$7,700 USD) by March 20, 2015. Early bird backers get one cube in their choice of plywood or finished Perspex for £10 (~$15 USD) with an expected delivery of April 2015.

McChi Luggage offers convenience for those on the go, makes airports more bearable

It’s been said that it’s not about the journey, but the destination. Well, most seasoned travelers would have to disagree. Actually trying to get somewhere, especially when air travel is involved, can be a huge pain.

McChi Luggage is a way for travelers to experience a bit more convenience than the airport has to offer. These bags not only hold stuff, but also convert into tabletops. This is especially useful, since airports always seem to lack flat surfaces to put stuff down on. McChi also features its very own USB charging station, perfect for phones and tablets. The luggage is made from either black or silver aluminum, and features two different table heights.

The creators of this luggage line, also the makers of the McChi Lock, have thought of two very important conveniences for travelers: tabletops and chargers. Both will surely make long trips much easier. This product is especially useful for sales or businesspeople who must remain organized in order to appear professional. Hopefully, the bags aren’t too heavy for travelers.

One will cost backers $240 for the carry-on model, and $260 for the mid-size model, with an expected delivery in July of this year. McChi hopes to raise $15,000 on Kickstarter by March 9.
