Glow Away may help kids scare off the boogeyman

Convincing kids to sleep in their own bed when they are afraid of the dark is a borderline impossible task. Indeed, many parents consistently and actively seek out solutions designed to keep their little ones under their own covers and sound asleep through the night.

Glow Away is one such solution. Glow Away consists of glow in the dark bedding coupled with a 20 page illustrated storybook. The main character in the book teaches kids a mysterious spell. Then, the spell “magically” appears atop of the covers, in glow in the dark form, when the lights are turned off. Kids are led to believe that the spell is very real, with the glow in the dark blanket serving as irrefutable proof.

While some may see this as creative, the product arguably cheats parents of the opportunity to teach their children about legitimate tools that they can use to deal with fear. VeggieTales DVDs and books offer more solid solutions as both convey learning foundations that extend beyond childhood. Other creative sleep items for kids include Nap Time and Dreamphones. This campaign seeks to raise $20,000 by April 4, 2015. For $129, backers get a Glow Away book along with a coordinated fitted sheet or two pillow cases.

Restopresto introduces your new friend, mat

It seems that as the seasons change, it can be warm toward the beginning of the day, and cool toward the end – or vice versa. But if one doesn’t get the chance to check the local weather report before heading out for the day, Restopresto, or RP for short, has you covered – literally. This multifaceted mat can be sat on, worn, or even function as a makeshift umbrella. When it’s no longer needed, just roll it up and throw it back in a tote, clip it to a handbag, or store it in the car. The fastener system is fairly extensive and cleverly designed. Other than that, RP’s main claim to fame is its “smushability.” Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy fans may connect it to the popular expression, “Always carry a towel.” For $40, backers can always be prepared for the unexpected demolishing of planet Earth, and hopefully, that the building of the galaxy superhighway won’t begin in our galaxy prior to January of 2015. BlanCat offers comfort for kitties in knead, will likely be ignored by them

BlanCatCat owners know that adorable thing that cats do when they climb aboard your lap, they pad you. This is super cute, but sometimes when claws get involved it can hurt. The BlanCat is a blanket (get it?) that has air pockets that cats will want to pad instead of you. It is supposed to mimic a mommy cat’s belly, the original pad destination. This fleece blanket comes in blue or cream and costs backers $18 for an early price or $25 regularly with an estimated delivery date of September 2014. BlanCat hopes to scratch up $10,600 in its 35-day Kickstarter campaign.

Nova duvet cover zips up blankets for quicker bed-making

The Premise. Duvets are the luxury item of the bedding market and owning one has weirdly become a status symbol. The only problem is that comforters often get tangled up inside of their duvet covers and can be really hard to reinsert after washing. Often, they look messy after making the bed and appear rumpled.

The Product. The Nova is a duvet cover designed to make sleeping even more comfortable. This innovative product reinvents the way that normal duvet covers work so that blankets are easy to insert and don’t bunch up. The opening to put the blanket in is actually in the middle of the cover disguised by piping and has ties on the inside to keep the comforter in place. This cover comes in two colors (charcoal and off-white) and five different bed sizes.

The Pitch. Nova’s campaign begins with the standard video talking about the birth of the idea along with the long prototyping process. The rest talks about the various “revolutionary” benefits of this product along with the different packages that the reward tiers offer. Nova hopes to raise $20,000 in its 30-day Kickstarter campaign.

The Perks. A twin duvet cover and two matching pillowcases costs backers $150. Various packages offer sheets, fitted sheets, standard pillowcases, and decorative pillowcases along with the cover itself. The last and highest reward tier goes for $390 and includes one king duvet cover, two king-sized pillowcases, one fitted sheet, two decorative pillowcases and one cotton-filled comforter. All tiers have an estimated delivery date of August 2014.

The Potential. The Nova duvet cover was created by Crane & Canopy, a bedding company from San Francisco, California. This product uses a simple idea to completely revamp your bed. And the price isn’t too expensive, taking into account that duvet covers always seem to be overpriced. While there aren’t other duvet covers quite like this out there, Amazon does have a few products aimed at fixing this problem, like the Padded Comforter Clips that hold a duvet in place. All in all, the Nova duvet cover certainly offers a new solution to an age-old problem.

The combination poncho/blanket includes a hood, arm holes, front pocket and foot pouch. Originally designed with wheelchair users in mind, the company decided that the product would also do well for babies, teens and adults. For $75, a backer gets the infant size and an expected delivery of May 2014. The cost increases with sizes. The product will appeal to those who found th basic premise eof the Snuggie appealing but want something designed for the outdoors.
